Use A and CNAME records when you need a subdomain, CDN, or external service.
- A record: maps a name to an IPv4 address (example:
blogto your server IP). - CNAME record: maps a name to another hostname (example:
wwwto your root domain).
- Open your DNS panel (domain registrar or OneiHost DNS if nameservers point to us).
- Add or edit the record. Host/name is often
@,www, or a subdomain. - Set TTL to the default value unless you have a reason to change it.
- Save and wait for propagation before testing.
Do not create two conflicting records for the same host (for example both an A and a CNAME on www).
